The Pist Ideas Are Bulletproof LP is the legendary 1995 only full-length album from the Connecticut hardcore punk band The Pist. This Pist LP carries the same intensity and urgency as it had upon its original release - born of the same mid-90s American DIY scene as The Unseen, The Casualties, Aus-Rotten, Masskontrol, and Destroy!, The Pist brought a hard-driving UK82 sound in the Blitz tradition with vocalist Al Pist's signature snarling vocals spewing socially-driven lyrics. 19 tracks including Still Pist, Never Question, Street Punk, Dead In Its Tracks, Alternative?, The Customer (Is Always Right), Slogans, the title track Ideas Are Bulletproof, Small Town, Energy, Textbook Salvation, Do What You're Told, New School, Great American Sportsman, Perceptions, Not Your Problem, Song For You, and Black And Blue Collar. The Pist combined hard-driving punk with gut-level lyrics that were simple and to the point but very well thought out - Al had a real gift for getting to the heart of serious issues with great clarity and humor that's lacking in so many punk lyrics. The band was active from 1993 to 1996, toured the US four times, and briefly reformed in 2023 (guitarist Bill Chamberlain tragically passed away in 2025). Essential listening for fans of 90s American street punk, anarcho-punk, UK82-influenced US hardcore, and the mid-90s DIY punk underground alongside The Casualties, The Unseen, Aus-Rotten, and Defiance.
