Potential Threat What's So Great Britain Singles Live And Demos LP is the essential collection of singles, live recordings, and demos from the mega crucial female-fronted Blackburn UK hardcore and anarcho-punk band Potential Threat. This Potential Threat LP gathers material from their 1982 debut EP What's So Great Britain (Nuclear Threat, the title track What's So Great Britain, Don't Conform, Animal Abuse, Cheap Labour), their 1984 Brainwashed 7 inch, plus live recordings and demos. With their 1982 debut EP, it would be easy to peg the group as a standard issue Riot City / No Future style punk outfit - and truthfully "Vice Squad meets Discharge" isn't too far off base. However, unlike so many UK groups of that era who folded after a single or two, Potential Threat continued into the mid-80s UK hardcore's nascent crust era and were able to keep up with the ferocity of emerging groups like Sacrilege, Concrete Sox, and Heresy. Few groups were able to bridge generations of punk like that while maintaining a sonic ferocity and politically militant stance. Featuring frontwoman Pauline on vocals leading the band through politically militant UK hardcore. Potential Threat formed in Blackburn in 1981 and stand as one of THE most underrated bridges between classic UK82 punk and the emerging UK crust scene of the mid-80s. Essential listening for fans of UK82 punk, female-fronted UK hardcore, anarcho-punk, the bridge bands between UK82 and UK crust, and the foundational British punk underground alongside Vice Squad, Sacrilege, Concrete Sox, and Heresy.
