Mau Maus Punk Singles Collection 1982 to 1984 LP gathers 25 blistering tracks from one of the UK's first hardcore punk bands - the legendary Sheffield UK82 outfit Mau Maus. This Mau Maus LP collects all the band's classic singles from the early 80s on the Pax and Rebellion labels: No Concern, Society's Rejects, Facts of War, Tear Down the Walls, and Nowhere to Run - all of which hit the UK Indie Top 10. Brutal UK82 hardcore in the general lineage of Discharge and GBH but with their own distinctive tough sound - particular drum patterns, choppy guitar work, and political lyrics about society and how the lower economic classes suffer. Mau Maus made their live debut in 1981 supporting Angelic Upstarts and went on to share the stage with some of the biggest names in UK punk while touring the UK and Europe extensively. Includes large eight-page booklet filled with rare period photos, posters, and a compelling history of Mau Maus straight from original singer Chris. Considered one of the most underrated and overlooked bands of the UK82 genre. Essential listening for fans of UK82 punk, British hardcore, Sheffield punk, classic UK street punk, and the foundational early 80s British hardcore underground alongside Discharge, GBH, Varukers, and English Dogs.
