English Dogs Mad Punx And English Dogs Plus 82 Demo LP is the first domestic US pressing of the legendary UK82 hardcore punk band's debut EP, expanded with their 7-track 1982 demo. This English Dogs LP delivers the original 6-track Mad Punx And English Dogs EP from July 1983 - produced by Clay Records supremo Mike Stone, hitting UK Indie Chart number 19 - plus the explosive 7-track 1982 demo that started it all. Features the bonkers frontman Wakey (Pete Wakefield) at the height of his powers, known for novel methods of getting audience attention including throwing eggs at punters between songs. The songs have a black sense of humor and a slight edge of madness - 5 of the 6 EP titles contain words like death and kill (apparently by accident). English Dogs formed in October 1981 in Grantham (Margaret Thatcher's hometown), toured Germany supporting Charged GBH and the UK supporting Discharge in 1983, and signed to Clay Records the same year alongside Discharge and GBH. Tighter than many UK82 contemporaries with a beefier guitar sound and memorable songwriting instead of just relying on speed and volume. Includes poster and booklet with unpublished photos. Essential listening for fans of UK82 punk, British hardcore, classic Clay Records bands, and the foundational early 80s UK punk underground alongside GBH, Discharge, and Broken Bones.
