Cravats In Toytown LP is the legendary 1980 debut album from the UK post-punk and jazz-punk pioneers from Redditch, Worcestershire, finally restored and remastered for vinyl reissue. This Cravats LP was originally recorded in a hotel basement in Torquay on an 8-track in just one week, released by Small Wonder Records in October 1980 and reaching the Top 20 of the UK Indie Chart. 18 tracks of strange brilliant post-punk featuring The Shend's growling vocals and Svor Naan's wild Burnel-esque saxophone weaving through tracks like Still, In Your Eyes, Pressure Sellers, XMP, Gordon, Ceasing To Be, The Hole, and Triplex Zone, plus surreal Interlude pieces. The Cravats stood as one of the strangest outfits to emerge from the post-punk gold rush - kind of like a mad version of the Stranglers speeded up and weirded out with a decidedly odd saxophone powering it along. Earned 4 John Peel Sessions and led to a longstanding connection with Crass that produced the Rub Me Out single on Crass Records in 82. Includes new inner sleeve with extra photographs from the original sleeve session. Essential listening for fans of UK post-punk, jazz-punk, anarcho-adjacent strangeness, and the wider weirder corners of British punk alongside the Crass Records circle.
