Often considered the band's absolute masterpiece - many fans rank it above the Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing LP. This Discharge LP delivers 10 tracks of pure d-beat hardcore at the moment the band's signature crushing sound fully crystallized into the iconic style that would inspire entire genres including crust punk, grindcore, and extreme metal worldwide. Tracks include Visions of War, Does This System Work?, A Look at Tomorrow, the title track Why, Maimed and Slaughtered, Mania for Conquest, Ain't No Feeble Bastard, Is This To Be, They Declare It, and A Hell On Earth. Recorded at The Grove London in 1981 with producer Mike Stone, featuring the classic lineup of Cal on vocals, Bones on guitar, Rainy on bass, and Tez on drums. The recording where the d-beat - named after Discharge's drummer Tez - was fully realized as one of the most copied and influential beats in punk history. Essential listening for any fan of d-beat, UK82 hardcore, crust punk, raw punk, grindcore, extreme metal, and the foundational document of one of the most singularly influential bands in punk and hardcore history.
